Heard. . .
As you've probably heard, Governor Brown has extended her declaration of a state of emergency due to COVID-19 through the beginning of March 2021. Hopefully, during this extension the risk level will drop to at least a moderate level and restaurants will again be allowed to reopen to limited dine-in seating. Unfortunately, most of the state is now under the "extreme risk level" freeze and restaurants again are limited to takeout only and outdoor dining. Of course, we are extremely disappointed. However, we have been preparing our hearts and minds for this possibility.
We have made the decision not to offer outdoor dining through the winter months. Outdoor Dining under the current COVID-19 restrictions in the State of Oregon requires that any open-air space including any space which may have a temporary or fixed cover must have at least seventy-five percent (75%) of the square footage of its sides open to airflow. Considering the amount of cold weather, wind and rain we experience in Eugene, we felt if we were to follow the state restrictions as written and intended, having only one sidewall would not allow enough protections from the elements for our staff and customers.
Takeout
Over the last 10 months, TAKEOUT has been the backbone of Sabai while under the ever-changing climate of the COVID-19 pandemic. The reality is, restaurants rely and depend on takeout to bring some sense of stability during this unpredictable business environment. Be assured, we will continue to make our takeout service our number one priority.
